Lego Ninjago Party

My son turned 6 last week and all he wanted was Lego Ninjago themed birthday party. All boys this age fantasize themselves as Spin Masters...I wanted this party to be remembered for and whats more fun, I really got crafty :) I googled for some ideas and got good ideas from few websites like www.craftinterrupted.com and pin interest and incorporated my own ideas to make this party a success..If you are having Ninjago party, here are your ready made tips to make your party a big hit :)

As a first step, I made this invitation and printed it out in the photo printing station. It turned out beautifully and everybody complimented it.

If you are planning to use the same, you can save it and use "paint" to do your customized version. I printed this in 8" x 6" photo print card.

Then I decided to do the banner as the banners weren't available at the local store and etsy.com proved to be expensive with shipping etc. So I got the following images from a website...

I printed it in the A4 size card stock, cut it individually, punched holes and ribboned it to make my own banner.

Then after making this, I started to put together all the other items for the party. I decided to do headbands for all the kids when they arrive for the party as a welcoming gesture. So I downloaded a font called Japonesa (which I used it for the party) and got red satin ribbons and a sharpie. I bet ribbons and sharpie make wonders! Then I googled Kanji symbols (Japanese) for writing Ninja and found on the web.

I copied these symbols and added a black spot before the name to make it look cool. Here's the end product. Please excuse me for the lousy photos.

It turned out great. I must say, the kids loved it.. After the banner and the headbands were made, I thought a background would look great for my pictures. So I got a pagoda background and customized it as Ninja Training Academy.

I wanted few props for the kids to get them interested into taking pictures. So I decided to make few props with chopsticks and the following cards.

I printed all these in card stock and cut it and glued it to the chopstick. It looked terrific and the kids enjoyed their photo session.

I used only one beard for the props and the other beard I used it for Pin the beard of Sensei Wu game. I got Sensei Wu's pic from the web and printed it in a A3 size paper and added "Pin the beard of Sensei Wu" game.

Next game was bowling game. I got a kids bowling pin game in K Mart for $10 and drew Lord Garmadon pic in a coloured paper. I cut it in the size of the bowling pin and gave them the ball to smash the bad guys. As a reward, I gave the kids who smashed all the pins a trophy and rest of them with soccer balls...They were super happy :)

For those who cant draw, I m giving a pic of Lord Garmadon so that you can print it out however you want.

I also gave them "Find your Ninja Name" in the beginning. I must say, if the kids are in kindy or just year 1, skip this game as they find it overwhelming.

Coming to cake, we ordered a raspberry filling in vanilla cake and asked them to leave it plain with just the message. We decorated it with help of M&M's and few sprinkles. The cake was yum and was not as expensive.

Last but not the least, party favours. I ordered few party favours from etsy.com and got it shipped. I gave each of them a Ninja push pin buttons which they can use it in backpacks or their shirts and a Ninja card collection. I also made origami Ninja Star (Shuriken) for each of them using double coloured paper. You can get the instructions to make it from the youtube. Also a thank you card printed in colour. I added chocolates and snake lollies to give it to them. I also drew the Ninja eyes with sharpie on a card stock paper. You can alternatively buy a chinese take away box instead of party favour bag and glue the ninja eyes on it.

So I guess I have given a few good tips to make your party a hit. Please leave your suggestions/comments below in the comments section. Have fun and get crafty !!!
